Which one would you choose?

Given a choice which one of these 4 receivers would you choose:
Pioneer SX-980
Sansui 8080
Marantz 2275
Yamaha CR-1020

:scratch2:

I would like to create a poll, but couldn't find how to do it.

Creating a poll is easy, compared to making a choice between those! All very good units, each with there own charms. I don't envy you.... :D

I'm starting to think that the Sansui's of that vintage have the best sound. The Yamaha might be the most "accurate", the Pioneer the most grunt, but the Sansui has a more involving sound. Personally, I don't get the attraction of the Marantz gear. Either the Sansui for the Yamaha.

I would go for the Sansui, just because of the way it looks -- I think that series is one of the most handsome in reciever history. I also have to say that I simply don't like the tuning wheel on Marantzes. As for sound, I suspect that over time individual component changes matter more than the original house sound, and you'd have to listen to each one individually to be able to characterize them as they actually are now.

In a phylosophical world - I'd take the Marantz - sell it - buy the Sansui - pocket the leftover $'s :D

I've heard 3 of the 4 listed. For MY tastes, I would go with the Sansui.
If this is a choice you have to make, go with the one you enjoy listening to the most.

Marantz and Sansui would be the only ones I'd even consider and it'd be a tough decission outta those two.

It would depend on condition and sound.

Is that world made of Baklava? "Phylosophical"

Just a great mental image, no harm intended...

I'd have a tough call between the Marantz and the Yammie, but recently everybody's been talking up the Sansui's. It doesn't help that a high-school buddy swore by Sansui...

I'll go with the Marantz... love that blue.

Go for the Marantz! Sansui is nice. The SX-980 is solid. Avoid the CR-1020. I've had five of them and all have had issues.

I'm partial to the Marantz (check my avatar) as I own the 2275 and it sounds incredible, I've always loved the look of the Yamaha CR 20 series and I owned an 8080 back in the day and loved it. Can't comment on the Pioneer but I'd guess its pretty solid too, I'd go for the best condition/deal I could find and not look back.
