which preamp to match an M-65, klipsch Heresy 2 and TT?

I just found an M65 in perfect condition (supposed to be...) that I should get on friday.
I mostly use my turntable, and also an nvidia shield TV with kodi to play music through my SMSL A8 DAC.

The SMSL would be used at first as DAC and preamp.
But I suppose I could find much better.

I read here that the C-2a and moreover c-2x are killers.
I'd like to stay in the Yamaha family for the pre.

Any other models I should consider?
I suppose Preamps with DACs from this era have a slightly outdated DAC? (I need to be able to decode at least 24bit/192 )

So... any advice would be considered. I found C-2a, C-2x, cx-1000, C-4, C-6...

Also cx1 and mx1 couple...

Phono stage is super important to me

There should not be a huge difference in sound quality, but there is a difference in features that you may or may not be able to take advantage of in order to give you a better overall experience.

The inverted pre-outs on preamps like the C-70, C-80, and C-85 are fantastic. They allow you to bridge amps that don't have their own way of being bridged, and provide benefits for single-amp configurations also. Most amps have two power rails. Bass, which is usually fairly identical between both channels of a stereo amp, will draw power from both power rails at the same time. You can use the inverted pre-outs on one channel so that instead of bass drawing power from both rails at the same time, it will do the opposite. In most cases that will increase your overall power output. That could provide a sonic benefit.

Many preamps, such as the C-80 and C-85 also have variable loudness control. It depends if that is a feature you will use or not, but it's a much better implimentation of the loudness feature compared to a simple toggle switch or button like most preamps have.
 
Oh, this seems quite interesting indeed (inverted pre-outs...). I don't plan to multi amp, having separate power and pre is already almost too much for me in termsof WAF / MOAF (My Own Acceptance Factor).
I usually don't use loudness but... you never know :)
I mostly want to have the best possible sound, and the best phono stage possible.

So... C70, 80, 65... Other models fit the bill?

C-85 not the C-65... C-70,C-80 and C-85 are the only ones with inverted pre-amp out.

C-60 ,65,80 and 85 have the continuous variable loudness.

C-70 has DISC direct for the phono stage.
 
Sorry, C-85 and not 65 indeed. (typo).
I read some good about the continuous variable loudness...
So I guess I will look for C-80 or c-85.
Any significant difference between these 2?
 
Hi, I just received that beautiful amp.
But I was expecting to plug my bananas directly but it is not adapted.
I think I need to cut them, which I'm not that happy of doing given they are good plugs professionnaly soldered.
Are there any plugs adapted to this amp?

No...Built for bare stranded wire.See the owners manual I posted in one of your other threads on the same subject.
