Depends on the item. I've had good "luck" with well packed heavy boxes I've sent via FedEx Ground.

I had amazing luck with poorly packed heavy boxes shipped to me by DHL.

I had bad "luck" with a very well packed heavy box from UPS.

The USPS lost a shipment to me.

My UPS boxes tend to arrive with the most damage.

My new rule-of-thumb is, "don't buy it if it's heavy and can't be picked up in a day trip from my house".

Wouldn't trust UPS to send me a pair of tube socks! Probably show up with tire tracks across them!

DHL is PRIME stuff in Europe as well as shipping worldwide. They still are working on expanding thier market here in the US. My fiance's/GF's dad is a big wig at DHL here in our state. Regional director or something or another...

I know thier drivers could give two ****s about delivering stuff, as they're not really DHL, they're contracted. They have to buy thier own vans, clothes, etc. They basically just wear the brand. BUT, if DHL finds out it was due to negligence of the driver when a claim is filed, guess whose paycheck it comes out of. So in that respect, thier drivers tend to take better care in handling packages....especially if when the customer says the driver was BSing with it....

So DHL it is for me. That and I get ABSOLUTELY KILLER deals....fedex on the other hand, is absolute trash. UPS, I've honestly not had any bad experiances with....ever.

I'll say this for Deutsche Home Lorry (DHL): I bought a pair of AR-2ax speakers that the seller simply combined into one six foot long box (made up of two boxes BARELY taped together). The speakers had a thin wrap of bubble wrap and were surrounded my loose styrofoam peanuts. A recipe for disaster.

The box was broken. Peanuts were falling out. But, the boxes had DHL stickers ALL over them that said "FRAGILE: HANDLE WITH CARE".

The contents were fine, in spite of the horrible packing. I credit DHL with that.

Do they cover when a driver cuts a hole in your sceen door?

Open sores are undesirable. Haven't been to the TT (turntable, of course) bars in years, but my advice is stay away from weight extremes. If the screws are coming loose from the pole, she may be too heavy; if she looks like she got off the refugee train from Biafra, probably too thin. It's important that when they shake it, there is an appropriate amount to shake...

THAT'S where Bob Seger songs sound good! TT bars!

Every time I see this thread, I keep thinking it says which "strippers" do I avoid... :sigh:

But that's a whole new can of worms now isn't it? :D

Sadly enough, so did I when I first looked.

Fedex just screwed up another shipment. I shipped a receiver to a person I have never done business with before (via Ebay). I requested a signature and paid for that service. The FedEx driver just left the package on the front porch and did not bother to get the required signature. Now I am open to Paypal chargeback if the person is a scammer.

how funny, i caught the UPS guy trying to leave a package hiding halfway under my T639. package looked like it had just been packed. no damage.

Certainly seems like all of them get a shot at screwing up. As an employee of Kinkos, and being owned by FedEx, I'm occasionally appalled at the phone calls we get regarding poor service. One major recommendation here.... pack your own stuff... don't bring it in and let the counter person pack it for you. I've shipped and received large, heavy vintage tube gear successfully through UPS, but I packed it very carefully. Worst disaster for me was getting my Sansui tuner on eBay and it arrived very poorly packed and one of the rack handles was nearly torn off. I was pissed. Scariest delivery driver I've seen was DHL guy riding in the van with the back door open.

A guy in my town posted a $1000 reward for the return of recordings, literature, pictures etc. that the Fedex guy left on his front door without ringing or knocking on the door. Fedex said they aren't required to ring or knock if the shipment doesn't specify. What's the big deal. The guy wrote that the package has no monetary value but sentimental to him. He won a grammy award for boxed cd sets. He is a recording engineer who produced some big name stars.
