Which speaker next after Celestion SL6s?

I have blown a pair of Celestion SL6s woofers and found hard to find replacement. Totally love the tonality and vocal but sadly, I have part with them. There is a certain "magic" I can't describe about the tonality, British perhaps? ATC sounded close to them but too demanding on power. Low price/performance. Modern speakers are not my cup of tea as they call too much attention to themselves with detail and transparency. They are recipe for listening fatigue.
What other speakers do you guy think sounded close to them? Ruark? Spendor?

I think I have one woofer in stock. That is half your battle! Are they no longer available from Celestion? Look for a UK based web site.

I understand your comment about the sound of your Celestion speakers. Your best bet may be to try to find another pair used or their close cousins. I have heard and could recommend Celestion SL-600, SL-12Si and SL-700 speakers. These show up used from time to time. Keep looking and you will again find the sound your like.
 
I have a pair of the DL8s, and I'd say they didn't sound very British at all in my opinion. The metal dome tweeter is quite sharp, and they don't have the classic rounded midrange sound like many Kefs for example.
 
I own a pair of "poor distant relatives".......Celestion 3 speakers.
They were considered a landmark product (according to the British Hi-Fi mags) in 1989, on the basis of their sound and affordability.
I think they sound fantastic, and with a 5" woofer, puts out surprisingly good bass!?
I paid $55 for my pair on flea-bay in 2006.
They still routinely sell for under a $100......a STEAL IMO.

No experience with DL8.

Celestion 3 did not impress me, sorry. They sounded boxy, get yourself a pair of SL6, you will thank me for it. They really better the 3s by a far distance.

I auditioned a pair of Linn Keilidh today, driven with Audiolab 8000S. They were unobtrusive, slightly thin sounding, too smooth and a litttle faster than SL6s. Keilidh failed to impress me. Perhaps, they do better if they were up against the wall.

Search is on. I have written a mail to Celestion US, keeping me fingers crossed.
 
By the way, someone suggested me try out Clement from Canada. The company has discontinued the model. They sounded warm and British. They do not have a high price tag on them too.

Ding!

I started with SL6's, went to SL600's, then SL700's, then back to SL600si's. Also have a set of Monitor 100's which fall in-between the SL6 & SL600si's for sound quality. I really like the Celestions of this generation. Start hunting for one of the above and don't look back.

There is one other brand however that produced some very interesting stuff around the same time as the Celestion SL products, that's KEF & the C-line. I picked up a set of C60's awhile back (2-way, 1" & 8") and they rock! Much bigger than your SL6's though, bigger than an SL12 too. But that great, warm Brit sound of the 80's that was the hallmark.
