which to use for monitors?

Are the L60s the same drivers and/or x-overs as 4408s? I'd think those cabs might be easy to source & fly.

I have a pair of JBL 4408's and if the L60 uses the same drivers, then besides the weight, this is definitely the way to go. :thmbsp: The 4408 was an excellent near-field monitor.

I tried to find a pic of the L60 on the web but all I see is the L60T. The L60T would be a "beotch" to hang from a ceiling.

Here's a few pics of one of my 4408's. Is the L60 a comparable size?

Hey Karlo,
If you are going to shelf-mount the speakers, then they will be right against the wall and you may have to deal with boundary reinforcement - better try listening to them that way (instead of in free space) before you decide which to use. Perhaps you can squeeze in a couple pairs to give you options. Best is to learn what they tell you using known tracks.
But, you could sell a few of those pairs and buy some real monitors. Suggest you check out the recent monitor threads on Gearslutz, since those folks have already gone down your route. If you were to sell-and-buy, then there are a number of options at several price points. Unless your room is pretty small then don't settle for 5 inch or smaller woofers to give you info on the bass.
Treat the room, then decide.... is a sensible path.

While I don't know the KEFs the JBLs are going to be more accurate than the Missions for sure as the JBL is based on the 4408as other have mentioned. So I think you made the right choice. For monitoring you want accurate and detailed as that will translate best.

The best option would be to make some speaker stands for them. Load the stand base with loads of sand and secure the base of the speaker so they don't fall off.
