Which way to go?

I collected this stuff years ago and kind of got busy with other things. I would like to have one refurbished and am looking for advice on which one I should have done. Thanks for any advice in advance.

The sansui will be worth the most when done but probably cost the most to have refurbished also. Lots of little problems with them and many parts would need replaced. I had an 8080 for a while but got tired of issues with it and the sound wasn't what I wanted. Now that being said I have not heard any of the others you have.

The Sansui will probably cost the most to restore. The Marantz should be pretty straight forward with lots of documentation and help in the Marantz forum. But I would probably go with the Kenwood or Pioneer personally, and I'm a Marantz fan boy.

Thanks for all of the info folks. Does anybody know of a good outfit around Edmonton Alberta where they repair these?

before you spend any money, take stock of what you have.

Start with the one that is visually appealing to you and test with speakers, turntable and a line source such as a CD player.

Take notes, then move on to the next one.

What brand & model is the tube amp in the 2nd pic?

I agree that the Sansui would be the one to keep and that it would be costly to restore properly. Folks go crazy for Marantz so you could sell that along with the others and put that money into the Sui.

Also that model Sansui is coveted so it will/should hold it's value when properly restored

Some suggestions here, maybe @Dony , @maxhifi, @The Fuxtor will stop by to offer more suggestions

I'll have a look at that tube machine, I don't think it's anything to write home about.I need to do an inventory, I know there more components packed away in the basement because my wife reminds me about once a year.

Personally, I'd sell the lot and use the funds to buy a new integrated amp, or a 'newer' amp/preamp combo, that has already been refurbished/rebuilt.

For $25 per year (click on subscribe in the upper header), you get access to the Barter Town forum; where members buy, sell and trade with each other. Mostly audio, but there are other categories.

I have a pile of new stuff. I want to have something old that works good.
