Which Zappa Album Would You Recommend For A First Time Listener?

I'm quite new to Frank Zappa and My First Zappa listen was to weasels ripped my flesh and I really like it but is it what you would recommend to someone interested in listening to some FZ? I'm in to Jazz so maybe Hot Rats would have been a more obvious choice to suggest? I honestly bought it for the cover, and found myself enjoying it, and I want more :yes:

If you're "really into jazz" try Waka/Jawaka-Hot Rats (totally unrelated to the "Hot Rats" LP, or another interesting but not too often mentioned album, The Grand Wazoo.
 
Joe's Garage? I don't think so! How 'bout Hot Rats, Overnight Sensation or Apostrophe? To tell you the truth, this is a pretty hard one...the Zappa discography is way too huge for a beginner to get a grip on...but I guess all Zappa fans begin fandom somewhere.
 
I must have answered this a dozen times, but I suppose good topics warrant repetition.

I vote Joe's Garage as well. Has all the hallmarks of Zappa, but is palatable for the FZ first timer. Hint: Use headphones.

Freak Out

I say start with "Freak Out" and "We're Only In It for the Money,"
essential Zappa & containing songs you can actually learn & sing along with.
 
The only album I have by him is Uncle Meat so far. Interesting to say the least...
I have been playing side 1 and 4 alot because its one of those 1/4 2/3 sided double albums...very jazzy and fun to listen to....you cannot judge the music by the title of the album or its cover....to say the least. Which is true I guess for any record.
 
I just received Orchestral Favorites in today's mail. It is probably not for the Zappa beginner, unless you are very much into progressive jazz/classical. In one listen, it didn't reach out and grab me, but I was distracted. I'll give it a more careful listen in a couple of days, and report back.
