White Oak Phase Linear 700B.... WOW.

Bob, they were rated at 350 watts per channel.

From the factory brochure:

Power at clipping:
Typically 400 watts pe channel @ 8 ohms R.M.S, 700 watts per channel @ 4 ohms R.M.S, 270 watts per channel @ 16 ohms R.M.S.

A friend of someone I know has two of them in a home theater system. It packs quite a punch and is amazing the way it drops dead when the input signal stops. Stone silent.

In bridged mode, the power can easily double per channel. So depending on the power supply and the distortion rating at 1000 watts, it certainly sounds doable.

Get you over to Phoenix Audio Forums - you will get more help than you will know what to do with. Yes, everything you've heard is true - the 1,000 watts may be overstated, but one member is working on 1,000 watt monoblocs.

It's not overstated, these average about 525wpc if you have a hot tranny

Better everything installed, that's why. No more TO3 circuitry, dual audiophile grade 4 layer backplane boards, all MJ25/26's, dimlays protection board, White Oak driver board, fully complimentary output and more

There is nothing Bob Carver in the amps anymore, it was done up righteously for sure. Every component is handpicked and nothing cheap installed. The sky is the limit with building these

My buddy has his for sale right now, with the White Oak upgrades...he's moving to tubes

What upgrades? There is several levels. Just a WO control board is not a real WOPL. A true WOPL is max upgraded, gutted of all original stuff and everything WO goes in it's place. Totally different amp that makes the original PL's sound like **** in comparison. A full monty WOPL can run you $1000-2000 depending what you want to do + the cost of a donor chassis
