Who knows a Sansui AU-D9 Repairman in Hawaii?

Hello Forum/Guys..
I live in Honolulu , HAWAII, on the island of OAHU.
Please, may I ask..
Does anyone know anyone on the island of Oahu,
who can repair/refurbish my SANSUI AU-D9 Amplifier ?

I bought it "as is" from e-bay.

1) Right channel sound comes on if I rotate/play with the BALANCE Control. back and forth, then, put to the mid position.
2) I can hear crackling /distortion sounds along with the Music.

I was wondering if I should get the Amplifier refurbished and about how much would it cost.

You are very lucky in one respect but unlucky in the other.

In my opinion you live in the most beautiful place on earth! I’ve been to your islands many times. My avatar pic was taken off the coast of Maui.

Now, let’s get you some good sounds. From your description it seems the first thing to do is clean all the controls! Get some Dexoit, look at some of the stickies here to learn how to use it and go to town. All rotary controls and pushbuttons. It just might be all you need.

If it does need more work and goggle can’t find anyone on the islands I’m afraid you’ll have to ship it back to the mainland. Or,,,, keep reading here and try to fix it yourself. A steep learning curve but dats about all I got for ya.

I am very fortunate to be born and raised here in Hawaii by my Mother and Father.
The Hawaiian Islands has one fortunate aspect, in that, we have no dangerous animals ( Besides SHARKS ).

I was looking and going to buy that Dexoit on e-bay.
May I ask...
Do I get the Dexoit G, or the Dexoit D... 5% Spray can,
or, should I buy this 100% Solution .?

Aloha Alton. I use Deoxit Gold and than follow it up with Dexoit Faderlube. Some say to just use the Faderlube. I like to use both.

Spritz the pot (pots) with the gold, rotate the knob a million times, (ok, only a couple dozen times) from stop to stop. In other words fully in each direction. Than spritz in the Faderlube and do the same. Do your best to catch any over spray with a rag or paper towel. Than move to the next pot. Than on to any pushbuttons.

You will have to remove the top and bottom cover to get to the working bits of each one. Look for little openings to apply the spray. Spraying onto the shaft is not recommended. The juice just won’t make it to where it needs to be. You will need a “Spray can”. The brush on stuff won’t do well for this imho.

I’m sure you can find both on Amazon, but Parts Express, is also a good place to look.

While you waiting for the Dexoit to be delivered you can also try to help the switches and pots by simply rotating them a million times! . Just turn the unit off!!! Rotate all the knobs from stop to stop, and push the buttons in and out. That may be enough to get ya going!

It’s funny, when I’m there diving I’m the weirdo that is swimming TOWARDS the sharks! But when snorkeling or surfing on top of the water people do look like food to a shark. Especially the Tiger sharks you have there. Sharks have no malice! All they want to do is eat and make little sharks. Beautiful creatures imho!
