Who made turntables for Radio Shack?

I know the Tandy Corp. that owned/operated the Radio Shack stores used Asian (Japan & others) companies to build their stuff--then they slapped the "Realistic" label on them....what company had the honor of building most of their turntables?

Depends on which TT and what era. I know some were Elac, some were BSR, and I think even some rebadged Technics. Later on they were Thompson consumer electronics/Hanpin. I'm sure there were more...
 
"Slapped" a label on it is a bit harsh; many companies did not build their own turntables. Radio Shack did it for longer and with more models than most though.

In addition to the ones mentioned they also had one, the LAB-500, that came from the same source as some Mitsubishi tables and was likely built by Mitsu.
 
Thanks for all the replies to my query....I'm doing some research for my brother, (I'm retired--he isn't!) and he asked ME...and I didn't know, so I went here for help!
Now one more thing? What does "CEC" stand for?
