WHOOPS...Missing Anti-skate Wheel SME 3009 III

DirtyCzech

I'd Buy THAT For A Dollar
So, the Anti-skate wheel popped off and is missing :tears:. Does anybody know where I can go to replace this? Is it critical that I have the anti-skate weight attached at all times or is it safe to use my TT w/o the anti-skate weight until I replace the missing wheel?

Thanks!

If you go above 2.3 grams vtf you defeat the arms ablity to anti skate anyways.I don't know if you need antiskate at all.The vpi tables don't use them. They simply twist some wires.I use antiskate though as im only at 1.5 grams vtf.
Will you hurt your records without it?
I don't know.Id guess you will be alright.Im sure someone with more experence will chime in though.

Two ways to get it- a Canadian distributor who also sells on eBay, and SME direct, from England.

SME direct priced the replacement bias weight and missing wheel that I needed at around $75. The fella on eBay auctions off parts every once in a while- and while buying the auction parts from him would typically run me $120-$135 or more, dealing directly cost me only $55 for the two pieces.

I'm sorry I can't recall the place, but keep an eye out for a Canadian seller on eBay and visit his site/store.

Cheers,

Paul

By all means replace it, but I wouldn't panic too much in the mean time - the earlier SMEs didn't even have a wheel for the bias thread to run over, just a metal hoop.
