I have 2 parts express Dayton Audio RPH20 20" Round PA Horn

And

2 Dayton Audio D1075T 75W PA Speaker Horn Driver with 70V Transformer

What is the best way to drive these pa speakers
With a home audio amplifier ?

Do I need a 70 volt transformer ?

I may only need to use 1 for now

I have a neighbor who has a dog that barks constantly

I want to playback his dog barking in a continuous loop

Since you don't need a 70V system (designed for running multiple speakers over long wires), you can probably just bypass the transformers and connect the wires from the amp directly to the drivers.

However, it might be easier to try talking to the neighbor first. Escalating a dispute like this rarely ends well for anyone involved.
 
They don't need the 70 volt transformers but might need a crossover capacitor if they are a midrange type of horn. 5uF @ 25 volt can be used.
 
Bypass the line voltage transformer altogether. Check speaker impedance, make sure it's compatible with the Amp you want to use. If you feed through the line transformer, volume will be insufficient & could harm your Amp. Good luck! Neighbors with constantly-yammerin' mutts can be notoriously oblivious .

Depending on the nature of the offending party. Can't reason with the unreasonable.
 
I have a bad neighbor, and I'm certain if you spoke to him he's convinced he has one too. Based on multiple years of experience with the back and forth and all the BS that entails I would suggest trying to de-escalate this as much as practical. Living next to someone who you can't even speak to without routing letters through lawyers is expensive and frustrating.


but to answer the question, open the speakers and pull the transformers out. The driver itself is generally going to be standard impedance that will run from a typical amplifier.

It wasn't the dog's fault. And, I really like it (young St. Bernard) and would often pet it, across the chain link fence.

It did initially upset me, but not too bad. The tires were old and needed replaced anyhow. Who knows if he saved me from a blowout, at highway speeds, running on bad tires. :dunno:

Well, yeah, possibly. It's the principle of the act. He sure wasn't doing that to save you from yourself in a benevolent way!

Yes. Absolutely. We should all write that one thousand times on the blackboard. You don't, EVER, harm an animal because their owner is a jerk. The dog is being a dog, and doesn't deserve to be poisoned or shot for being a dog and having an irresponsible owner. We have a neighbor who lets his cats out to roam free. They come over here, dig up and pee and poop in our flower beds, and eat the song birds that come to our feeders. One of the cats left the carcass of a cardinal on our grill. We do live out of town, and there are no "leash laws" for dogs, much less cats, so there's not much I can do about it other than shoot the cats... and they're just being cats.. it's not THEIR fault. Sooo.. I spoke to the guy about it, and he was cool, although we both agreed that it's not fair to deprive an outdoor cat, all of a sudden, of being outside. He tries to be outside with them more and keep an eye on them, but not always. He made an effort, I made an effort, and things are a little better. Still incidents of cat mischief once in a while, but also still have a cordial neighbor.

He uses foul language and tells me he doesn't care
He is very threatening towards me
I am in very bright light I hope I am spelling everything right
The police will do nothing for me about this
