Hello. I'm curious to know why is it so many models of home speakers have separate grills only covering the midrange driver, or just the tweeter, sometimes both, used on 3-way (or more) speakers. For 2-way speakers, the tweeter? Why not protect the woofer too? I'm not referring to the main exterior speaker grill/cover, but to the individual personal sized driver grill. Examples include speakers by Yamaha (ns-10t, ns-200ma), Cerwin-Vega!, Wharfedale, Pioneer (hpm- ), etc. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but perhaps there's more to it than what meets the eye.
