Why house cats make Hifi sound better

><((((º>`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸.·´¯`·...¸><((((º>`·.¸¸.·´¯ `· .¸.·´¯`·...¸><((((º>‏

I think the controversy might be more in the breed of feline.

I prefer an oriental shorthair - orange tabby if possible. In my experience, they make a subtle difference in the impact of LF without impeding the color of the mid-tones.

I know others that think that Maine Coons are better for taming HF.

Obviously the kit you're running must be performing outstandingly as can be seen by the particular orientation of this Hifi cat. Bravo!

So many in this little hobby of ours are struggling to get it right, but not you, it's just another day in the sun, and again Hifi is put in its place with a feline in the house who apparently has it by the short hairs?!

Testing out a new corner bass trap.

Oh really? Now I thought this little one was suggesting to you that your speakers need to be this much further of the back wall to really dial in the depth of stage without making the corner loading on the bass fall off. Personally, I would double check if you misunderstood jsisk. This one's got bigger ears than you and seems convinced to me. A common misconception is the house cat Hifi buddies are physically the sonic fix, my girl friend is ten times the average weight of a cat and has more hair (just on her head) mind you, and does next to nothing for the sound of my kit by being present. Think about it.

What you have there Rob is a genuine Ed Colone corner speaker placement cat. They cannot stand to see speakers moved out a bit from the corners. :)

Yeah, they liked the corners didn't they? As I recall Ed's old boxes were sounding pretty good right before he sold them. They also had a greater dynamic swing than this little transducer but were not nearly as attractively finished, maybe fur would have mad them better yet!

I suppose that a cat could act as an absorbent surface for certain sounds, thus tuning the room in a fashion. Well, I tried to take the serious angle... :D

My cat has no interest in stereo equipment or computers. Perhaps she is broken.

Edit: picture time!

Similost, Thank you for better defining a tweeter to our community at large. As for the tabby making some needed speaker adjustments, I'm impressed. No thumbs, and yet this appears to offer no limitations with the use of screwdrivers and flashlights and what have you. I love to see a Hifi cat at hard at work.

Kitties are also good for reducing standing waves in large cabinets.. along with removing any stray packing peanuts that may have been in inadvertently left in them..

Since I didn't have any Zilch Plugs, I used the next best thing..

Now did you really figure that out Similost by yourself or are you just taking credit for what you Hifi cat showed you, at some level of physical discomfort I might add? I see this as a selfless feline pursuit for audiophile excellence!

...and I thought our little buddy was checking out the caps for replacement on that crossover board to take away that upper frequency veiling that you or I may not initially recognize but, is most apparent to those fuzzy ears!

I have found they don't make for very transparent grills though..

...see, and I thought he was reviewing the level of DIY craftsmanship while contemplating the two incremental improvements over the exponential horn include slightly better support for low frequency extension and a somewhat broader high-frequency coverage pattern. Shows what I know!

Lemme give you a few tips about this super tweeter before you consider one for yourself..

First off, this is one of the largest you can buy on the open market. While they appear to be a refined tweeter, they can be very hard to tame to play nice with your woofers and meowers.

They can be shrill and they can produce SPL's that can and will hurt and damage your hearing.

With a lot of time, patience, and a hand full of tweaks, there is the possibility you'll fall in love with them, and won't ever want too part with them.

OH.. BTW, you give my audio cat too much credit... While she does understand that bigger speakers are more fun to play with and listen to, she really has no clue why they would even be in her abode.. .I honestly think she's looking to find that band of mice in there to make them stop with all the noise..

Oh.. and as a warning.. .the WAF on the tweeter, or squawker, is probably some of the lowest you can get. Be sure have approval before acquiring any.. Believe me.. In some cases, forgivness never comes..

but doesn't it work out better to beg forgiveness, than to ask for permission?
