I stopped going to rock concerts decades ago. Arena rock took over and it's a great party but it's hardly a place to enjoy music and for me it was always about the music.
Then too, responsibility made it more difficult to get out. Not only that, it just stopped being fun as work and family made sleep the most precious part of life. I was just too exhausted to go out, anywhere.
but honest, the shows were just too loud. So loud they made me uncomfortable and sometimes caused pain. WTF is that about anyway?
I am thinking, it's about time shows rolled back the volume.
When you leave a concert, your ears are ringing. That is not healthy.
Anyone else swear off live rock shows? How long ago if you did and why?
Should rock acts have to pay lawsuits from fans claiming damaged hearing? I think so.
Well.... you know... personally I agree with everything you are saying/said about rock concerts being too loud for, at least me, to enjoy, and the damage or potential damage to one's hearing. However, the last question, which is a statement in the form of a question designed to move an otherwise objectionable proposal forward, I totally reject. It is the kind of legislative morality enforcement thinking that will disarm the law abiding, rewrite then selectively enforce elements of the First Amendment, find reason in expediency to nullify clauses and paragraphs of the Constitution, ignore and eliminate by precedent key elements of the Bill of Rights, like the Tenth, or the Fifth... through administrative law and temporal judicial decisions, reverse the order of the Republic making government, primarily central government, the grantor and protector of otherwise stated God given rights recognized by the Constitution, amplified and grounded by the Bill or Rights, which you identify, functionally, as mere traditions, which you challenge as though no one except yourself has the insight and higher thinking which leaves everyone who doesn't agree with you in the category of being.....'You people that don't agree with me are just too dumb to understand I'm trying to help you.' Mass graves of the last century and well into this one are full of people who heard that call....first at a distant, then up close and personal. Alexander Solzhenitsyn, his Gulag series, and Arthur Koestler, his Darkness at Noon, in context, are reads I would suggest, as well as Kirks The Conservative Mind. This post is not a leap from an otherwise passive question about loud rock concerts, it is the point of most of the push back you've experienced from this thread. I agree with you completely about loud rock concerts and that is one of the reasons I don't go to them but couldn't be more separated with regard to punitive damages against promoters and musicians... everybody knows loud sounds damage hearing, as well as, for many rock concert goers, the drugs they take/took to enhance the loud experience. In fact, many of those who would quickly sign on to a law suit were those doing the drugs... like the smoker who started smoking to be cool when it was and has always been common knowledge they are harmful...coffin nails. It's the activism/activist which is never satiated, no issue to small, the constant malcontent ever trying to normalize itself into a general malevolence against personal responsibility and erstwhile tradition to affect laws and legislation.... resistant to that is what you define as resistive, fearful, hateful... which is isn't. On a much deeper level, it is self preservation.
