Why is high bias tape disappearing?

Has anyone tried the Maxell "Duplicator Series" cassette? It seems to be Type II High Bias and this place (no affiliation) has them for about 90 cents each. Other places have them too but this was the cheapest I found.

I'll probably give them a try eventually unless someone here has had a bad experience with them.

Those actually AREN'T high bias. I don't think they come with cases, either. Check Maxell's website.

Well that just sucks, I wonder what the difference is besides the color of the box (Communicator and Duplicator).

Someone must have said it... National Audio Company provides large batches of freshly made out-of-the-oven chrome and cobalt tapes. No affiliation.

The last users of cassette are mainly court reporters, law enforcement surveillance and interviews, visually impaired use, and churches. And cassette is still viable in third world countries. Which is why Type I is still being made.

This topic of Type II's disappearing is always an interesting read.

Amazon has always been a great place to get basic quality, Type II's.
As well as a whole host of other retail channels.
They are abundant.

Brand new Type II High Bias Cobalt and Chrome is readily available and at great prices a National Audio Company right in Ohio USA. I've been using the cobalt and it's very nice stuff.

Don't worry, I've found him a few friends since that pic was taken a few years ago. Since then, I've picked up approximately another hundred NOS Type II's and Type IV's from various thrifts or garage sales -including a few more Fuji's...

That was Sadie with my favorite niece and one of my nephews. She was a very sweet dog. I am, however, partial to the other three -especially the pic immediately to the left of Sadie. That's my first whippet, Devo. Nicest dog I've ever known. Not real easy to see in that pic, however.
