Why lawyers get a bad rap..........

People rap lawyers until they need one, then they want the hungriest shark they can find.

Much anti-lawyer propoganda is funded by insurance companies and other businesses who'd like to take away your ability to sue them.

No argument from me on either point there, amigo

If I need help, I want the baddest boy around

I've had the opportunity to get to know several lawyers through things I was involved with at work.

All were completely normal, logical people who see the world exactly the same way you and I see it. They just have a different college degree. You would have been happy to have been friends with any of them.

Next time you're in line down at the local motor vehicle department, take a quick look around. It's not logical to assume that the "lowest common denominator" rule exempts lawyers.

The one yahoo doesn't necessarily tarnish the rest. And besides, he got what he deserved. It just took a while.

Those must be centrally located right around you, and not allowed out into the general population.

What, the Secretary of State's office? Man that used to be quite a nest of crooks. When I took my driver's test at the office on Lexington the guy wanted a taste to pass me, my Old Man told him to fork it over or he'd be explaining to the 37th Ward committeeman, that was that.

Remember Paul Powell's shoeboxes?

I don't agree that it proves the system works.

Any system that would even CONSIDER a 54 million dollar lawsuit over a friggin' $100 pair of pants (with no personal injury), much less let it go in front of a judge, has got a problem. IMHO

Just taking a swag here but the judge may have agreed to hear the case to put an end to it and then open the door for the store owners to ask for legal fees.

No one around here gives a ratsass about him other then dumpy ward 8. He really does represent his constituents.

I can't stand him either.
But somebody does gives a rats ass. Or he wouldn't have gotten relected when he got out of prison for smoking crack with a bought whore. I still crindge over that.

I always wondered about that.
It 's been my impression that convicts couldn't vote or hold office, so how'd he swing that??

"I have seen it with my own eyes and believe that each lawyer must give his soul to Satan to practice law."

Not my daughter, I can assure you of that.

The law is a business and like any other business there are people that treat you right and people that screw you. C'mon, what do you expect?

As for the law being a business like any other and whether that's proper, well that's the way Americans like things.

That goes on a local basis, state by state generally.

People may vote for an out and out crook to show their contempt for a system biased towards white bread middle-class values and the forms of crookedness that middle-class values tolerate or encourage.

I have seen it with my own eyes and believe that each lawyer must give his soul to Satan to practice law.

So from a single experience with one attorney in which you felt you were treated unfairly, you arrive at the above conclusion?

Most egregious application of the phrase Ex uno disce omnes I've seen in ages.

Sir, you astonish me, and have my thanks.

Well, I guess Wisconsin where I grew up must be one of those places and DC not.

As to the second statement, that seems like a very irresponsible use of one's vote, But then again I guess like the saying goes, folks get the government they deserve. So by and large, we must be a bunch of horse's pattoots

You're doing to insurance companies and businesses the very thing to which you object when done to lawyers - namely make broad generalizations and misrepresent their intentions.

I think the average citizen would like some reasonableness from everyone.

Yeah, but the insurance industry, the Business Roundtable and the national Chamber of Commerce ARE lobbying to restrict your right to sue. That's not a broad generaliztion just a fact. Do a little digging into who is funding the push for so called "tort reform".
