... they are prone to breakdown ...
Turn-out feet, missing headshells, broken tonearm rests, cracking & missing dust covers, etc., etc. hardly quality as "manufacturer" defects.
Something is fundamentally wrong not with 6370Q itself, but with the Marantz 6370Q sellers. I see only abused 6370Q on eBay, more abused then anything else.
I predict that all vintage turntables will eventually be destroyed by people attempting to ship them to someplace else.
Poor packaging is the prime reason for damaged turntables. There is nothing like the original box and packaging to ensure a turntable arrives at the destination in excellent condition. It is still doable but if you order a turntable on line you have to explain to the seller in detail how to properly package it up or the inevitable will happen. I have received at least 4 turntables over the years that were completely destroyed because the seller did not follow instructions. Always keep a record of your conversations with the seller in case you have a problem.
6370Q is quite rare model. My understanding it's Marantz TOTL TT.
I follow them for several years on eBay. I saw dozens of then and I noticed that 90% of them "for parts or repair".
In few years I saw only one 6370Q offered in mint condition.
What's going on?
