Why would a battery charger mess up FM reception?

You know... I seem to remember, in the early 1990s (1993?? I think), my sister had a computer, a 386, she was using. My dad used to listen to talk radio. I don't recall if it was AM or FM, but that computer put horrific static on the radio.. Perhaps this is a similar situation.

No surprise there, Miss Natasha, as those early computer power supplies were prolific and nasty RF noise generators back feeding into the room and houses power wiring and interfering with all types of radio reception !

The computer`s CRT monitors RFI could be, and usually were, just as problematic, as well, until the FCC started cracking down on the manufacturers.
