Wife takes man's Maggie!

It was my Maggie 175 and my wife took it!:D while I was listening to my 175 after finishing up replacing carbon comps and replacing some wiring my wife walked in gave it a listen too. After a few minutes she then said, " wow!, that really sounds good! Can I have it?" I couldn't say no, so I set it up next to her makeup table. She listens to it while doing her hair, makeup, ect. Its setup so she can plug her phone into it and stream Pandora. I finished the base yesterday and connected a pair of Overnight Sensation speakers I built and it sounds pretty nice. And today she tells me we should go out and hunt down some old consoles. I've created a monster! And couldn't be happier. :thmbsp:

If Pin 4 and pin 3 is still jumpered together on the 6V6's a nice improvement can be made by adding a 10K 1 watt resistor and a 47Uf cap to the power supply , for a separate screen supply for pin 4 .

Better make this sound as good as possible or she will want your 300B' amps when they are finished

Love the wood work

Thanks Mark, I'll look at that. I think they are still jumpered together. Film cap ok to use? As for the 300B, it will be pulling duty in the living room. :D she is wanting to hit the thrift stores and swap meets for consoles to strip.

Those mousers 50 UF film caps would be great . Buy her her own soldering iron .

Good for her. Well, really good for both of you! Now, do as you were told and go find some more consoles.

Just be sure she is aware of how hot rectifier and output tubes get.

I gave her the low down on running it. Tubes get hot, don't leave it on and leave the house, don't put your fingers under it even if its off, ect. :D we listen to a lot of the same music too. I've gotten used to ordering two of what ever CD I buy as well.

The only problem I see with that is she will most likely want to keep a few of the nicer consoles. I just want the amps, maybe a preamp or two.

hey Paul that turned out great! I like those buttress corners a lot. The chassis turned out very clean as well. excellent work!

so those are the sensations eh :)

Thanks Noah. Yup, those little speaker kits really sound nice. I need to order another set now. Those were what I listened to at my bench. :D

You are the luckiest man in the world! You gotta cool wife. :thmbsp:

At least I know I am not alone :) the wife has taken a liking to some of the gear I have sitting around. Have the same thing going on with media as well. Whenever the CD's get "organized" there are always a few more missing. Buying doubles right from the start is a really good idea.

That's why I started getting doubles. :D I have plenty on a hard drive also so those are easy to replace.
