Will my amps drive the legendary Kappa 9's?

Hi!

I have the opportunity to buy locally a pair of Kappa 9's in apparently good shape, but will my pair of Harman Kardon HK775 monoblocks drive them? The original owner uses a Mcintosh MC2002 with good results.

For those who don't know these amps, are rated at 130 W into 8 ohms and 260 into 4 ohms, with 4 pair of output transistors for each amp.

I usually don't play anything at crazy loud levels, max about 90dB but I love classical music and and as you know, it has lots of dynamics.

What do you think?

That should work. I push a pair of Infinity RS3b's with 100 a side. RS3b's are similar to Kappa 8's. Now I dont play them loud though.

No, they are not rated at 2 ohms but the MC2002 that the original owner uses isn't either.

make sure to leave them in Normal mode, and the 775's will 'probably' be ok. do your 775's run cool, warm, or hot normally?

I’d say they may work, but will they drive the 9’s probably not.

I’d say they run on the warm side. They usually keep the same temperature when working hard than when idling, I cant’t tell any difference.
