will shellacking transformer eliminate mechanical hum?

The hum in my transformer has almost completely disappeared. Between the shellac bath, the baking, the new wood wedges, the new gasket cardboard inside the endbells, the new brass bolts with double nuts I tightened the end bells with, and some time and use, the buzz is just about gone. A bucking transformer to drop the voltage about six volts will be the last step and then this one is done.

poindexter,
Using a vacuum pump? A brilliant step I wish I'd known about before starting this journey. There was precious little information out there. Thanks for taking this to the next level.

Wow, an interesting thread to say the least. 'Would love to see a pictorial of the rejuvenating process as I have a buzzing transformer needing some attention and have never opened one up.
