I just bought a pair of used Wilson Sophia Series 2 speakers. I drove quite a distance to get them and paid a fair price. When I got them home and connected them I noticed one of the speakers has a midrange cone that is faintly buzzing/rattling even at low volumes. I didn't notice this when I did my test listen at the sellers house prior to bringing them home. It is pretty noticeable and I have eliminated the preamp, amplifier, and speaker wire as the cause of the problem.
In doing some research it seems the midrange driver is a ScanSpeak Revelator 7". My question is does anyone know if Wilson tweaked these speakers or do you know if Wilson used the stock midrange speaker from ScanSpeak?
I have reached out to the seller and hope he will make this right, and I will call Wilson and get a price on a replacement midrange speaker. I found a site that sells the ScanSpeak Revelator 7" for under $220.00. I can only hope the ScanSpeak Revelator 7" is a direct replacement. They look identical, but Wilson is known for adding their own twist to speaker components.
Thanks in advance for any help!
