Wima caps to replace bipolar caps

Can a Wima 50V 1uF cap replace a Bipolar 50V 1uF cap? I read somewhere that one way works but not the opposite or am I just imagining that? I've always used Wima to replace low capacity polarized caps from 1uF to 4.7uF but using them to replace Bipolar I'm not sure now? Wima are non polarized so I assume it's ok right? Having a senior moment I guess.

The Wima film caps are all non-polarized, and yes, you can use an MKS2 or other to replace an NPE.

I thought so but I'm having a bit of a hard time remembering today. My brain is a bit muddled. Working on audio to take my mind off family members passing. Both my sister and her husband were in the hospital with Covid. Her husband passed on Monday. My sister passed last night. Having a hard time dealing with this. Audio is a distraction thankfully because family can't be together right now with this virus . Thanks James.

As mentioned above, any film cap should work as a bipolar e-cap replacement. My understanding is the small value ones should fine in place of polarized ones, too.

So sorry for your loss. For what it's worth, I've used working on stereo gear as a distraction from life's difficulties from time to time, too.

Thanks folks. I have many hobbies but I find working on Audio is the one hobby that takes me away from the real world. It requires some focus so it helps me not dwell on the things I can not change but in the end the loss is unbearable. We were extremely close.

I clicked on this thread cause I recently read about Wimas replacing bipolar caps...I just had to look up the definition of bipolar (again!). I like the term non polar.

My rule of thumb is if it fits, I use it on the WIMA front. But then again, I don't do everything right.

Film caps are inherently bipolar, or non-polar, whichever terminology one prefers. Sorry for your loss too Brother... :oops:
