Windows 7 folder issue

I finally upgraded my computer to Windows 7 unfortunately.

Anyways I have a folder with a lot of pictures, songs, etc. in it.

On XP I would click on it and boom it would open up right away.

Now when I click on it a green bar goes slowly goes across the top and it slowly opens up.

If I delete a file from this folder the green bar does the same thing and it slows the whole folder down all over again.

Anyway to allow this folder to open up right away like it used to??

Thanks in advance,
greg

Could you tell us your PC's specifications? I'd be primarily interested in what hard drive is in there, that's usually causing slow downs like that.

In windows 7 it's a service called Windows Search. Start/run type services.msc, scroll down to Windows Search, double click it. Click Stop. Change from automatic to disabled. Click Apply/OK.

Also, if you have it set to generate thumbnails, it will make folders with a lot of pictures operate slowly. Change the view option to list instead of thumbnails if thats what its set to.

Indeed try doing the suggested tips. If this does not work, then again, post your specs and especially HDD model, so we can figure out if the hardware isn't too slow for 7. It's a great OS but rather demanding of hardware.

Pretty sure this is on the right path.
