Winnipeg, MB - Deal Alerts

mythless

Looking for projects!?
Considering there seems to be a growing number of AK members from Winnipeg, I thought it would be nice to have a thread just like our more notable AK members on the West Coast.

I've had these on my watch list for quite some time as I thought they were quite interesting. I don't know if they're a true Winnipegger deal but, I've seen some decent stuff that have popped up on Kijiji in the past couple of months.

To start:

Custom Philips Deforest Speakers - these should be some nice sounding speakers:

Energy Pro 22 Speakers - always wanted a pair but, they do have those million dollar tweeters which like to dry up:

Denon DP-62L - excellent table, comes with spare wand:

Maybe some other members will help populate this thread.

I hope to be in the Peg for a few days come Christmas. Always something audio and interesting to find there.

That is true but, like always you have to quick on the gun. I still often ponder about those Energy Pro 22, then I look at my room full of speaker projects.

That is it exactly, brother mythless. Too many projects and a room already filled with TTs, receivers, speakers, tape machines, radios and related paraphernalia all of which is or close to top notch. But, one can't help searching for that elusive perfection, the rare piece, or that symmetry of components to reach audio nirvana.

Indeed! I have a soft spot for turntables that often I find myself trading other stereo gear for turntable or turntables. I hope some other Winnipeg members will help populate this thread, it can become an educational thread for onlookers in the Winnipeg area.

I'm subscribed. Only issue is - around here, if it's a 'deal' it's "gone in 60 seconds"!

Maybe we need an "All things Winnipeg" thread - but I suppose it'll end up in D&S if we discuss values anyways so possibly this is the one!

It's nice to from all my neighbors to the North. Have relatives outside Winnepeg. Greg from Bemidji.

I bought my Acoustat 2+2 ($1400) and Acoustat model 4 ($600) from ads in Kijiji Winnipeg. I luckily bought them the same day that I noticed them (not the same day) in the ads on weekends (200 mile round trips). Both pair of speakers work great and the Acoustat 2+2 have been in the main system playing daily for the past 5 years.

I also saw a Krell KSA 100 for sale but after contacting the seller once he seemed to disappear.

I think like in many parts of Canada, there are not only deals still to be had here locally, but there are lots of great pieces of audio gear in basements and garages and crawl spaces still waiting to be unearthed by their owners and put on the market in some fashion - garage sales, Kijiji, Craigslist, Used Winnipeg, etc.

Like many of you I have been fortunate to unearth some of these gems!

Good luck to all my fellow Manitoban's and others who venture into this market.

For some reason I don't recall the peg having all that much stuff in the past, say 4 or 5 years back.

Maybe its because I just wasn't paying attention?

Ex bison man my self.

Maybe yes then maybe no!
Having done just about everything except repairing unless minor issues in 50 yrs in this Burg we live in I can honestly say it's been well rewarding in one way and frustrating in another what with all the "FLIPPERS" trying to one up each other besides screwing all of us at the expense of us few others who LOVE this Hobby/Audio no matter how high or low you are on the food chain! Hey I know that's life but still don't have to love how it's done on my and others dime! Wpg. is a "CHEAP" Town no matter how I look at it but then again I have seen this in other factors of our lives and in other Hobbies I have had where a few ruined it for all the rest:)

Hitachi PS-10, belt/semiauto. Not sure whether I'm interested or not.

I thought it was Pioneer too but never found anything that quite matched.
