Wintec R1060

I am currently the proud owner of a Wintec R1060 receiver.

There is no way around it. This unit is a beast with styling ahead of its time, that, if the internet is to be believed, was designed to outclass both the Sansui and Pioneer equipment of the time (1976-1979).

I will be pulling mine apart for a routine cleaning/deoxit treatment, and plan to share better photos, but I wanted to ask if anyone has any more information tucked under their bed that perhaps isn't on the internet. There are no schematics, no advertising, or additional information that I could locate, outside of specs and owners manual.

Internet chatter suggests a likeness to Luxman design, styling, and model number scheme, however this comment on the internet suggests differently (different model):

I will post more photos here as I get going on mine, but it appears to be sitting on some pretty hefty hardware. If anyone can share (or heck, even find) additional information on this specific receiver, please feel free to share it. The internet is a very barren place when it comes to information on this unit, and I would love nothing more than to change that.

I just acquired a beautiful Wintec 1060. I like the styling- it seems about 5 years ahead of its time, with a minimalist faceplate that IMHO does not look cheap. It has a lot of LED lights to communicate all the information you need- maybe the styling was influenced by the recent introduction of R2D2?

Anyway, I am hoping that somebody could point me to a schematic- the left channel is dead and I need to start doing some probing.

Clean, wiggle, push, rotate, all buttons first. Sometimes it is just dirty pots and switches.............sometimes!

If that doesn't work, try looking for any internal fuses.

Yup, that is my fervent hope: the non-destructive fix. But once I get it opened up it is nice to have an informed idea about what parts might need extra special attention!

Hey guys. I bought one of these beauties (1060) a couple of months ago. Man this thing is pretty.
Mine works OK, but power up is sketchy (takes a few minutes for the relay to click on, and many of the LED's flicker during that delay). I'm sure it's either the relay or a capacitor that controls the delayed turn-on timer that's going bad. I'll open it up once I clear off my bench of the other crap that I am working on.
Did anyone find a schematic for this unit?

You're in a better position to judge, but this sounds more like a failing power switch to me.

Nah, the power switch is solid. The LED flickering consistently stablizes after the power up relay clicks clicks on. I think the relay is chattering before it turns on solid.

I'll open it up this weekend. I'm hoping someone here has a schematic!

I have one of these. I also had the 1060. Both are great sounding units. Their main weak point is the seeming lack of any kind of schematic. I searched high and low but could not find one. I eventually sold the 1060- even though it was in perfect shape cosmetically and functionally, I was apprehensive about any eventual repair without a schematic.
