Wiring the new warehouse, or, cement ceilings are tough !

Well the lease is up and my work is moving/upgrading to better building. Im trying to wire a semi-permanent surround sound setup and am running into an issue.

Our new building has 12' ceilings made of preformed concrete slabs and I am currently stuck on how to semi-permanently run speaker wires along the ceiling. No sort of average wire tacks are going pierce the cement ceiling.

Is there a simple solution I am overlooking ? Any help is worth alot ! :) Thanks

Hot melt glue...

It's a plastic that you load in a heat gun and squeeze out a dab. It hardens as it cools like fast and is clear in color. Craft stores have them and would be perfect for you just tacking the wire down every few feet.
 
I was thinking something along the same line, but the plastic anchor bit is a better idea than my own. I was just going to drill some holes and anchor the straps straight into the cement like ive been doing for conduits. I jsut didnt want to lug that hammer drill around... not after this previous week. lol My arms are like wet noodles atm. Ill regain some strength and go with that route. Thanks JNTIT ! :)

I thought of some sort of epoxy or glue but I didnt think of hot glue. It could work, but it would have to harden fast, and have to hold up the weight of over 50' of 14 awg cable. Do you think the hot glue method can hold that sort of weight ? I fear the mess I would make trying to smother the wire in the hot glue. lol
 
You could use something like this, they hammer directly into concrete. They're designed for coaxial cable/cat-5 wire and should be available at Home Depot.

these or drag out the hammer drill and use tapcons instead of thoses plastic molys.
 
How about suspending a thin rope or wire at a few points using the concrete drill /insert method. Then just tie wrap the wires up.

Check your lease agreement (if that's what you have) concerning 'permanent fixtures' to the existing structure. CYA, man...the hammer drill may not be an option.
 
Cut 4" lengths from 1x2 furring strips, and hot-glue them to the concrete. Space them out every 3'.

Put a 1 1/4" drywall screw into it. Lay the wire on top of the screw, and zip-tie it to the screw. Done, with no permanent damage to the ceiling.

The blocks can be removed with a simple hammer smack. No damage to the concrete.

Easy, cheap, and simple.
