aloha---i read all the threads about vintage vs modern...was wondering??!... speakers aside(or using any speakers) what can one expect to notice(sound wise) using a sansui 8080 vs modern...i have heard it is "all in the speakers"???...just wondering!!!...mahope aku(later)

The 8080 will have more balls, grunt, slam, than any mass-market BPC or SPC (they're making Silver Plastic Crap, now) receiver in the big-box stores on the island. The tuner is nothing to sneeze at, either. You are going to have fun with this. A good friend of mine has a 7070, and he runs HPM-60s and a pair of small 2-way (Dayton BR-1's from PE) Both are 8 ohm, and he can drive his wife out of the house playing Sinatra, in the basement. (well, she doesn't like Sinatra) The little brother to your 8080 will do this all day, without breaking a sweat. Imagine what the 8080 has in reserve. That said, don't get silly with it, as shipping will kill you, to get this to Echo and back.
