Wood body Grado cartridges ?

So listening to this 45RPM version of "I Still Do" tonight decided to make a few adjustments, dropped the VTF to 1.5g and raised the tail a tad over horizontal, VTA 92degrees.

Bass tightened up with a bit more depth, longer sustain, a bit more air around the images, more bite to the brass. Liking the changes, I had always run it at 1.5g before the retip so I really shouldn't be surprised.

Edit: Now this in 360degree sound lol, outstanding recording.

I have a question about the Opus 3. Has anyone tried taking one apart, and verified that the stylus is absolutely non replaceable?

I'm just wondering, considering how they appear so similar to the Prestige series, is it glued in, or could a Prestige stylus be used by snipping off some bits like the Clearaudio carts which had supposedly non replaceable styli actually turned out to be replaceable.

I have had them apart, but I am not home to take pics. The stylus is melted into the body and so well done it is hard to remove even with the wood body off.

I like the Grado generator concept but always felt the removable stylus - in particular the split in the body it necessarily creates - was always it's weak point. I tied butressing it to strengthen it but I'm not sure how successful it was. It does sound better IMO and the stylus is still removable, but it needs more work.

I think the weld is key to its success...

I checked on my phone, I don't have with me a pic of the plastic weld itself. I will be home in two days, I will pop it under the scope and take a pic.

I have a number of outstanding quality recordings on vinyl but none better than this, it's just outstanding. My wife Nanette and I attended one of her concerts in a small local venue when promoting this album and picked this up at the show.

She was one of Nanette's favorite artists, we had front row center seating, like she was performing just for us less than 10' away. Lost my bride of 32yrs in 2012 so it holds a special place in my heart.

I've heard this album many times over the yrs many of those times with the Grado with the OEM stylus, oh man is this a treat, real magic in those grooves and the Platinum is doing it justice.

Wow; sorry to hear of your loss. It’s always hard when you lose a loved one and I’m sure, especially when losing your spouse.

I’ll have to see if that record is still available from Acoustic Sounds. I’m sure it does sound amazing - thanks for pointing it out!
Had a feeling that the Shibata on your Platinum would sound sweet! :)

Almost died, lost 62lbs, we met when I was 14 and my angel was only 12, miss her every day.

Our three boys with the grandchildren, wish she had the chance to meet them, picture taken this Thanksgiving.
