When I was a boy in the 1970's, the local tv shop was also a Marantz dealer. The units were beautiful. A permanent impression was recorded upon my memory of the receivers and of the father and son who sold them. The machines were expensive and well beyond my means to purchase the one I wanted. Now that I am old, I can afford used ones and I bought two.
I didn't know much about them, until I got a 2270 and a Dec. 1976 built 2230B. The build quality is obviously excellent. I cleaned them and relamped them both with LED's. I noticed that the metal cabinets appear to be the same.
My question is this: Do the optional wooden enclosures fit over the metal enclosure or are the metal enclosures removed for fitment of the wooden ones?
