Wood Headshells...

What are the virtues of wood headshells? I see them from -$20 to $100+. I have to admit, I'm intrigued by them. I've seen them in many types of wood, African hard woods, cherry, Box wood and even bamboo. The woods will have different density and weight. Like different tone woods used in guitars? Anyone have experience using one? Impressions?

My experience also. Others may have more to say, but in my experience what you want from a headshell is minimum resonance, maximum rigidity and appropriate weight / mass for compliance, and for me metal / alloy headshells seem to best meet these requirements.

They believe a ceramic headshell is the best of all, but then that is what they sell.......
 
Speaking without any experience of these, I would think the sonic properties of a wooden headshell would be dependent on the type of wood used. It could be expected that softer woods have different resonance to harder woods, I'd expect that harder wood headshells to be better quality.
 
They’re pretty. I’ve seen one for DL-103 on the bay which is nice and of course those Urushi-laquered for both SPU-G and -A are nice to look at.

For sound I’m with Korf.
