Wood JBL speaker stands revisited

I posted a request for the dimension of the JBL wood speaker stands. I have since had my friends in the shop whip me up a pair that I am using now. All it cost me was doughnuts for the entire gang (approx $10.00). But, take a peek at what the "reproductions" are going for.

I am sure that the only reason the previous pair went for $115.00 was the JBL logo. Let's what happens here.

Those are nice but they don't have the character of the original JBL stands. I think the finish was a little darker on the originals too. They do look like they are very well made. Not everyone has access to wood working tools and the price seems fair imo.

It would be easy enough to have a stamp made to put the JBL logo on the repro's. Probably not worth it for one set unless you are selling them like this guy. It would probably help his sales if the logo was there.

Dennydog, you do have a point. I am lucky in that I have a wood shop at work with a great group of guys. $80.00 is a lot but if someone really wants and needs then, then I guess value is in the eye of the beholder. I was almost willing to pay $500+ for a Yamaha CA 2010 in eBAY. Still can't let that one quite go.. ;-)

Those repros look nice in walnut, but I think I'd want them in oak, to match the speakers. I don't think the price is out of line at all, especially if you aren't handy with the woodworking side of things. The fellow was smart to leave them unfinished, though, so that people can colour them in as they see fit.
