Woofer for Dynaco A25

If that woofer is bad, send it to GordonW. He fixed both mine, which suffered from sagging baskets.

They're good as new now, and for a more than fair price.

Don't halfass it, man. These are too sweet to do that.

EDIT - I saw the woofer you linked. I think that would cover GordonW's legendary work, if memory serves. He's a respected member here on AK.

BTW, there is a known defect with the SEAS woofers as the terminal assembly that was semi-tubular riveted together comes apart after all of these years and the flexure wires may short out to the cast basket frame of the woofer. The woofers need to be removed and inspected. If both terminals have come apart, it could present a short to your amplifier which is never a good thing.

An original is bound to show up sooner or later. This is just my experience, but I would not go for a rebuild of the existing woofer unless it is done by an absolute expert. Some one with a reputation like Roy Champagne. I had a pair of AR woofers rebuilt and they are just not the same as the originals. It was an expensive lesson. I have probably posted this before, but it is worth repeating.
 
I believe that the A25 was produced in greater numbers than any other speaker ever made. An original woofer is bound to show up on ebay or bartertown.

Reconing does not inherently produce poor results. But I suspect it would be more expensive than just finding an original.
