Thats OK I am sure Detroiters will work doubly hard to retake their rightful crown :yuck:

Well damm Bangor didn't make it on the list? Come on! We got some nasty bars and a greyhound bus station I won't even go near on foot during the day!

comparative homicide rates

Back when I lived in St. Louis I mentioned to my mother that I was traveling to Ireland. She expressed concern that it was dangerous over there.

I pointed out that even if I were going to Northern Ireland/Belfast (I was going to Dublin), the homicide rate was far far worse where I LIVED. I think the homicide rate for Ireland was something like 30/year, or about as many as were killed per MONTH in St. Louis. She was still worried. Moms are funny that way.

When I lived in Madrid we wandered all over at all hours of the night and never worried for safety.

In July, 3 squad members were making linen runs and had to stop at Cooper Hospital in Camden to drop off paperwork too. The road we usually used was under construction so they had to take a detour. On the detour, they got a flat tire. While waiting for the tow truck and trying to fix the flat tire, they heard gun shots and what sounded like wasps flying around. It was bullets flying through the air. They were stray shots from a gang war a block over. The bullets were flying through houses and wizzing passed them while they were trying to change the tire! They got on the radio and told county dispatch that they needed assisstance and were being shot at. Cops came from every direction they said.

That's messed up though. When even a ambulance squad gets shot at, inadvertantly or not. My mother worries about terrorists on airplanes when I travel. My chances of dying trying to help someone else are much greater than a terrorist trying to take over the plane I'm on.

LOL! Because of this thread I won 2 free tickets to the movies this morning off the radio! The trivia question was Camden NJ was just named the most dangerous city WHAT WAS THE FORMER MOST DANGEROUS CITY?

THANKS GUYS!!!! :thmbsp:

Being about 25 miles west of Charm City I rarely visit there. Picked up my Son at the RR station once, but that was before I found out that he could get off at the stop close to BWI.

Jstas...dont forget that if you have to confront a terrorist in the air, kick him in the nuts...his first reaction will be grab his tiny bells, then you kick him in the chin...

I think that overall, kicking in the marambas is a lost art in self defense.

Well it's at least comforting that I live near (15 min.) one of the cities in the top five....good ol' St. Louis. I didn't want to be left out. Of course, I try not to watch local news, so I feel pretty safe! :scratch2:

Forget Grumpy! It's my post! I wanna go to the movies!

Wait.

What are we gonna see? 'Cause with that pink Miata, the chances of a chick flick being tops on the list are pretty good and that's bad!
