World Series game or Pearl jam concert ?

All right then, baseball - schmaseball. Why'd you ask? :)

Hey, you should have borrowed his uniform...okay, just kidding.

Pearl Jam. I love going to concerts, even bands I don't much care for. I just don't enjoy sporting events. I wish I did, but i don't.

Maybe NASCAR......

I asked because it was for me kind of a tough decision . A great concert or a baseball game . And a decision for him . I was just looking for advice not a life altering event . Thanks for those who offered advise .

World series without question..Pearl Jam, back in the day was an intense, high energy experience live..in recent tours, they, like most touring bands these days, seem tired and disaffected much of the time live. I stopped attending PJ concerts a couple years ago when Eddie V. began rambling on about his smarmy, tissue thin politics between most every song. I listen to their old recordings almost daily, but wouldn't cross the street to see them perform live again.

what a memory participating in the opening ceremonies in Philly would be...it will be electric..the fans there are maniacs.

It boils down to what the young man wants to experience most, and only he can decide....sounds like one hell of a son to me, hope he totally enjoys whatever he choses:thmbsp:

World Series, no doubt. How often is your team in the WS? Assuming you are not a Yankees fan, in which case $220M will buy you an appearance about every 3 years.

Come on, don't exaggerate. It's only about once every 4 years on average. :D And $220M, that's just the starters isn't it? Of course, when your local team's owned by Wal-mart it's only once every thirty years.

I'm not a huge Pearl Jam fan, so I'd say go to the WS, but someone who's not a big baseball fan would say go to PJ. But having made the decision he made, he should stick with it. Being a little toasted in uniform under those circumstances could lead to another life-changing experience. :nono:

Regards,

D-Ray

OH YEAH aren`t you that Yankees fan ? You are are alright with me ! Butch .

that would be me..:D:rockon:

this thread isn't the place for tired slogans about team loyalties and inferiority complexes...its about a patriotic young mans decisions between two winning choices..

I'd do the opening ceremony to the World Series and then head to the concert.
Would be one hellava evening for him and am sure one he'd never forget. And thank him for me, for his service in Irag.
Hbar

DAH! Hands down, word series. Who the hell is pearl jam anyway? And Springsteen, HA! who cares!

AMEN, Pearl Jam will be at the county fair soon so you have plenty of time to see them, and Bruce.......that D'bag is enough reason to not go perios even if you were just gonna watch paint dry. World Series all the way, I went to a couple when the Indians were in and trust me it doesnt come around every year lol.

Definitely do the pre-game, that is a pretty neat thing to be a part of. Have the VCR record the game and scoot over the the spectrum. :thmbsp:

Let him kick back and just enjoy one thing ... he earned it ...

Dude , I hear what you are saying , but I understand what everybody else is saying too . For me it would have been a tough choice . Brent , my son, was a baseball player and is a fan , but he has had these tickets for a while and has been really looking foward to this concert for a while . It just came up the other day about the chance to go to the world series .It was just more important to him to see this concert than a baseball game . He just got back from Iraq about a month ago and friends and family seem more important than anything . He is a music lover more than a sports fan .

tivo or record on VCR the WS game for him.

He's been looking forward to the concert for awhile, I assume he's made plans and anticipated this and paid for tickets, I would want to see the whole concert and possible Springsteen or guests. I assume he also made plans with other friends.

Yes, it would be an honor to parachute into a WS game but he did his time in Iraq and that's certainly honor and duty enough. He deserves to have his choice of unconflicted time to spend it on one thing and not worry about what we think he should do. No guilt trip should be laid. Instead of being torn between two schedules that can mess up and stress out, let him kick back and enjoy one thing. He doesn't owe anymore and somebody else can be given the honor. The fact he was asked in a way would be honor enough. That's something to be proud of that he was among the first choices.

In my humble opinion if that kid just got back from a tour in Iraq. He can do any damn thing he wants. if he wants to see the Concert and party with his friends GOOD. He can watch the game on TIVO the next day.

This is the closing night for the Spectrum and PJ has done a few concerts there already in the past few days. I talked to a friend that has been to two of those.

The first was a quieter concert, acoustic and a great concert with excellent sound based on his determination. He went again last night and PJ was rocking the house. Completely different play list with only two songs repeated from the previous show he saw. They played for 4 hours last night.

There was talk of PJ trying to do their complete catalog at these concerts and I have no idea of their ability to fit all their songs into 4 concerts, but they have asked for security to be at the Spectrum until 2am indicating they may play for a while tonight. Last concert in the Spectrum, you gotta think there will be a few friends showing up to play, Bruce maybe the Dead, who knows. This should be one hell of a concert.

Game three will be played every year. The Spectrum will only have one LAST concert.

Looking forward to a review of the experience whatever the outcome.

Did they even do the parachute into the stadium with the rain Saturday night?

The game itself was delayed about an hour and a half.
