I think this is the same collection that has been on ebay a couple times. The first time a guy from Ireland won it but it fell through. Second time I don't know what happened.
This is the first time I have heard the story behind the collection.
 
Syracuse University has an incredible collection of sound recordings...perhaps he might consider a donation.

Just watched-it. I can't believe that the Smithsonian doesn't want it.

A collection like that is quite a responsibility.

I thought he had 1.5 mil 45s. And a super rare never ever publicly released brand new Led Zep album ($6-10K). He was asking only 3 million, which is hell of killer deal.
 
The Smithsonian rarely buys things like this they have things like this given to them. I have a buddy who is cataloging the camera collection in some cases they might have 20 examples of common 35mm cameras in a big box or the might have in another one of the rarest and most valuable cameras in the world (which they didn't even know they had until Eric told them what it was) He says the camera collection takes up as much room as a high school gym with the bleaches pulled back and about 12 feet high on tight spaced shelves and lockers.

I would assume the music collection is similar not to mention the Libarary of congress.

That's what I thought too. No way would it be that much, even if he has 50 copies of that Rolling Stones record he was showing.

I SHUDDERED when I saw the way he handled that record that he said is from 1881! No gloves, fingers all over the grooves? Not to mention, he's ill (sad to say), and was one-handing it. He could easily drop it and smash it to smithereens.

If that's how he's treated those records, I wouldn't give him $3 million :D
 
I had read somewhere that this is whats left of his old record store.These are the records that didnt sell.I wonder if he is overselling his collection a bit.

I agree.... if that were the case, my collection would be worth $100,000.
