Worst Stereo You've Ever Owned?

Akai mini-component system. Mid '80s. I was in Japan staying in a hotel for 4 weeks in Sasebo (company paid) & needed a stereo.

Just couldn't handle the Akai at all - it just 'sounded horrible' - to me. Gave it away to my friend's son who really wanted a stereo so badly! I hardly used it. He loved it!!

All's well that ends well ... MIssion Complete!!

Just bought a Panasonic Boombox with built-in EQ. Sounds great - Perfect! Still using it in the garage now!! Only the radio works but most excellent!! cool!

Mine was an Emerson 8 track receiver with a separate turntable my parents got me at about the age of ten in 1975. Loved it at the time, of course, and used it up until early HS IIRC. By then had started building kits, and 'moved up' to a Rat Shack 2 W stereo amplifier that came as a bare board you bought the parts for and stuffed.

My first turntable setup was turntable > pre amp > TV (audio). It wasn't the best but it worked when I was a kid. Plus I could use the video (without sound) to play whatever. I listed to a lot of music with taped races going in the background.

Life was a lot simpler back then.

Or so it seems.
Our needs were a bit simpler back then. There weren't as many 'time saving' devices to take up our time. One you had a 'stereo' and a decent car there was less to wish for. I had a few guitars and an amp as well. Beyond that it was time to look for girls
