Worth of McIntosh 1500

What is a fair price for a McIntosh 1500 that sounds good, has been totally recapped, is all but mint cosmetically (in a wood case), and has both three of its original tubes and a spare set of four later era tubes for a total of 8. (Sorry, don’t know the strength of any of these aside from the fact that they work). Thanks!

I have a MAC 1500 and I would expect that it could bring $1000 to $1200 or more

of course there's what it's worth... and what people will pay for it

Vintage stuff rule #1:

There is only a small number of people who are even interested in vintage gear and a only a very small fraction of that is willing to pay anything close to what its worth. Everyone wants a score, that's the fun

seems like the vintage stereo impulse buying wave that drove prices high has crested and its a collectors world again....

For frame of reference, I once listed my exceptional MAC1500 on eBay. Had some good documentation, a clean bill of health from Audio Classics, original packaging - the works. It was bid to $3,3xx but the buyer backed out. He later contacted me offering $2,900 + shipping because he calculated that was the amount I would've netted after eBay fees were deducted. This escalated into a dispute after which I told him it was no longer for sale. The principle is that I could have definitely gotten $2,900.

Within the last year A/C had one in B1 condition (about as close to mint as you can get) which they sold for $2,995.

These have become more valuable in recent years. If the condition as nice as you say it is and performing up to spec in all areas, I'd hold out for in the upper 2s.
