Would like to compile a list of speakers that do well with tube and low powered solid

I am interested in compiling a list of speakers (vintage and new), (bookshelf and floor) that do well with tube amps and low powered solid state systems.

In my home my Jensen TR10, Klipsch kg-4's and RTR Series IV Model b's fall into that catagory. None of my newer speakers come close with this type of application. The Jensens and Klipsch are both horn speakers. The RTR's are not.

I listen to a pair of B&C 12CXB dual concentrics in roughly four foot vented cabinets tuned to 49Hz.

They boogie on solid state, and sound great with my 2A3 SET amp.

I listened to some Tannoy DMT II system 15 monitors the other day. Excellent sounding speakers, especially with a mac MC275.

But after the visit, and firing back up the B&C's, the 12CXB's really don't sound a whole helluva lot worse.....

Umm....most anything with horns or anything with fairly high efficiency would be my guess.

Look for speakers with high efficiency ratings. 60's and 70's JBL's would be a start.

The gentleman I traded my KG-4's to is using them with a Shanling MC-30.
It's a integrated amp/CD player that is about 3 watts SET tube powered.
He uses it for sound in his record store.

I can tell you that my Polk Monitor 10's do really well with low powered amps. I've ran them with a 11 wpc Tripath amp and currently run them with a 20 wpc tube amp. Either one of these amps can drive them louder than I will ever need. I think they are 92dB/1W.

The Celestion Ditton 15 seems to be a low-power tube friendly candidate. I'll know more when I run them with the Grundig NF 10 amp at ca 5 WPC.
The Dynaco A-25 is another possible candidate without Kabuki or honkers.
