If you've got something that doesn't have an inherently high value, then it could be worth more in pieces. Or, if you've got something that's broken, or not fully functioning, then it could be worth more in pieces.

I don't think the intent is to seel it all to one buyer, the intent is to find a bunch of buyers who might be looking for certain pieces for their existing gear.

This can backfire on you. I bought a pair of Ohm F2 cans from a guy, and happened to get them at an extremely low price. Then I bought the grilles, bases, etc, all separately, and for dirt cheap prices. He would have done a *lot* better selling them as complete speakers.

bs

Not all turntables were sold with dust covers, possibly because at least some buyers would put them into cabinets and forgo the cover. And that meant that there could be several different versions of the cover. So the seller may not be completely off base in selling them seperately.

Plus most TT dust covers break fairly easily or get marred in some way. As they were made pretty thin and of a fairly fragile plastic. So someone who has a perfect, functioning TT may need a cover to replace a broken, marred or missing one.

Yup, and I need one for my 1219 that was busted by my son during moving.
I would love to bid on that 1219 cover but he does not seem to ship to Canada. Oh well.
