Would you consider Forte II's and even trade for Vertical Cornwalls?

....Looking to trade a fellow Forte II's for 1973 Cornwalls. Both prolly in about the same condition, say 8-8.5/10, and in walnut finish. Is this an even trade, or how much difference would there be?:scratch2:

Thanks,

EDIT: oops ...meant to say, "...an even trade..." :D

well, as you mention, it all depends on who wants what...Forte' are VERY wel thought of as are Cornwall...Cornwalls are bigger and have a huge following (no pun intended)...even trade just might be great for both...enjoy!

The Fortes lost out...

...in direct comparison to my Chorus I's. The Choruses just seemed effortless compared to the Fortes, with clearer bass....And believe me, 2 pair of Klipsches and 2 pair of Altecs is enough until I get a bigger house. 5pairs of speakers won't fit in the doghouse....

Easy!

Cornwalls will burn much longer than the Forte II's, hotter as well. 9-ply Birch is alway preferable to chip board. Less smoke and toxins, too.

Hi, Amy! How's it going Luv? :zoom:

How is the baby?

Cornies vs. Forte' II

Vertical Cornwalls are worth more unless the Forte' IIs are mint. Many prefer the sound of the Cornwall, not me, the Forte' II sounds better, lower bass, better mids and highs. Cornwalls definitely have the coolness factor though, especially the vertical model.

I gotta jump into this thread. I'm picking up a pair of Fortes tomorrow which are in virtually mint condition. I've never even heard any Klipsch speakers, much less owned a pair. But I'm excited as hell, like a kid before Christmas.
Living with JBL 4311's for 30+ years has been very satisfying to me. My ears are tuned in, so to speak. I've upgraded all my equipment over the years, but never have replaced my main speakers. Finally, I'm making a very big, blind leap into another world. The anticipation is almost overwhelming. It's crazy.
So, with all that said, what do you think I'll discover? What will the biggest difference be?
Oh yeah, how much do the Fortes weigh? I'll probably have to lug them to my CRV alone. Uhhhggggg.

Come On Tomorrow!!! Yeah, baby, I'll be a Klipsch owner on Thursday!!!

Keep the JBLs around until the Klipsch "WOW!" factor wears off. Listen to the Klipschs at least a month with everything (musically speaking).

DON'T BE TOO HASTY AND SELL ANYTHING!

I learned this the hard way.

Thanks for the advice, Craig. Maybe I'm getting a little too overexcited....got to remind myself to calm down.

How good is your back?

....I've lugged mine up and down a couple of sets of stairs by myself a couple of times. FWIW, I'm 5'11'' and 212 lbs and prefer to only have to pick up weights that are 12 oz or less.... :D I figure they can't be more than 50-60 lbs...

Thanks, Analog...50 or 60 lbs I can handle. My back is not in the best shape, but I know how to lift stuff. I'm 5 10, 200 lbs but not strong. Adrenaline will help.

In that case you'll be throwing one over each shoulder and bounding up the stairs 3 at a time....Enjoy!

Well, my back aches and my legs are rubber. But I loaded the Fortes into my CRV. Unloaded them into my listening room. Lugged the top set of 4311's into the storage area. Then the other pair of 4311's out of the way. Removed the speaker stands to the storage area. Lifted the storage pair of 4311's onto the speaker stands for later re-organization. Lugged the Fortes into postion. Lifted the 2nd set of JBL's on top of the Fortes. (had a pad between the Klipsch and JBL's).
Then a couple of aspirin. Then about 4 beers.

My impressions of the Fortes are on another thread. I did some comparisons between my old babes, the JBL's, and the Fortes for about an hour. Then I somehow managed to fall asleep in my chair while listening to Whippin' Post.

If I didn't have to work tomorrow I'd stay up for a few more hours!
