Would you trade KEFF C55's for DMC TFF600's ??

Well I have a set of KEF C55's that I use a Class A amp to run. I have them in a formal living room so they really never see more that 30wpc puched max. I love the KEFf's but they lack bass so I had to wire in a mid grage sub and out the KEF's thru the sub. I feel like that took away from the KEFF's.

Someone wants to trade me the KEF's for the DCM TF600 even. I researched them and heard good and bad things about them, good how they shine with mids, bad about the lack of tweeter and again low end Bass complains. I do not want to run a seperate sub anymore either way.

Can any who have heard both give me some thought's about if I should trade ?
Both the KEFF's and DCM are in about the ssame condition.

I would. The C55 is not one of KEF's best by any stretch. Limited bottom end, a rather "closed-in" treble response, somewhat akin to cupping your hands around your mouth. The TF600 is the better speaker of the two.
 
Make sure all drivers are working if you get the TF600. Two rear tweeters and the tweeter inverted in front of top woofer.
Great speaker.

I always though that to, about the cupping hands around mouth. Or echo muffed kinda sound. How is Bass on the TF600 ? And do they doo just as good at low volume ?
 
I would make that trade in a heart beat! I have a pair of C55's out in my guitar room not in use. While they do some things okay, many things they do not. To me they sound very boxy with no low end. Make that trade while you still can! Those TF's are pretty highly regarded.

Plenty of bass on the TF-600s. Also tight, clean and balanced(the way bass should be for music in my opinion). Very musical. Heck, I have driven my TF-600s with my Marantz 2238b (38 wpc max) and it just does it with a little smile on it's face while the TF-600s just sing along.

I have had C35's but unless the C55's are just waaaaaay different then I would not hesitate in a second. TF600's are one of the better speakers I have ever owned. Not real deep bass but what is there on the bottom is detailed and accurate. The imaging of DCM speakers is the best I have experienced.

Make sure the 600's are in good shape and check all of the tweeters.
 
I'd go with the DCM's. You'll have trouble besting them. I've been using a pair for a few years now and I still absolutely love them. I've never owned those particular KEF's but I've owned A LOT of very nice sets of speakers. I've got no urge to go back to any of them after owning the TF-600's.
 
I have the C-55, and some TF-500. I would have already been over there with the KEFs, and on my way home with the TF-600. I have not heard the 600s, but my 500s are no comparison to the C-55
 
I prefer the 500s

I've had both. The 600s were not really noticeably better. Both models have a similar total parts worth. The 500 has 1 woofer and a nice Vifa tweeter, the 600 has two woofers and three cheap mylar tweeters. As I recall, the 500 had a better crosover with air core inductors, BUT had spring terminals.

I have never heard a speaker company make low priced parts sound so good as DCM has.

THe 500s are easier to place in a room as they are front exit transmission line, and sounded warmer and fuller to me. I really miss my 500s.

If you have the 500s and want to "upgrade" to the 600s DON'T DO IT.
 
My 600's are keepers, for sure. Perfect in my bedroom system with my Sansui 8080db. I love the rich, warm, dynamic, large, room filling sound they make. They approach what my Maggies can do but are much more versatile wrt placement.
