Wow & Flutter Phone App - How Reliable?

I use the iphone WF app.

But I'm not fixated on the absolute number it presents, but the trend it shows over several measurements.

I'll do three measures and take the average. Then I'll fix/change something on the turntable and do 3 measures again. If the trend is to less WF, I've got a pretty good indication I'm working in the right direction. If it stays the same (or worse, goes up), well....I'm doing the wrong thing or need to consider other sources for the WF.

The WF app is like a chassis dyno to me: the absolute number itself isn't as important as the trending it reveals.

I could load up the software, plug in the hardware and run the test LP, but the app is quick and simple and suffices for regular work .

Yep, my TT went from .14% to .05% with a bearing refresh.

MoS2 infused center bearing took my 1249 from and OEM spec of 0.08 to 0.04.

Although, my old ears can't really tell the difference by just listening. With a mechanics stethoscope I can hear the change, but not in regular listening....:)

I'm currently using the app to help chase down the best replacement belt. My 1249 still uses the oem belt and finding one that will match it's specs is proving not to be a easy task. Last was a Thakker brand belt, which only achieved a WF reading of 0.07/0.08 on the app.

Got a belt coming from "Dualfred" in Germany and hopefully that does better.

This is where the app is a decent little tool: comparing one component replacement to another.

My oem belt still looks and performs fine, but I'm of a mind to find a good spare before the OEM gives up the ghost.....
