I was also reading yesterday the FAA may fine them. Not for releasing the balloon, evidently nothing was wrong with that, but evidently for calling in a false emergency.

Narcissism

We're living in the American Idol generation.

So many people want to be famous.

I find this to be a major problem with what seems to be a lot of people that are in the 30 year old and younger crowd, they seem to crave attention. They don't seem to care if it's negative attention, just as long as it's attention to them!

The constant stream of "reality" shows hasn't helped this problem go away, either. I guess if you were being nice, you could say it is a bad case of narcissistic personality disorder. If not being nice, then flat out a case of wanting to be the center of attention.

It used to be asked of people, would you rather be RICH or FAMOUS?

I think that these days, most of these people would prefer FAMOUS.

Had a search and rescue person been killed or injured those kids would have that hanging over their heads for the rest of their lives and all for what? :their parents stupidity and hubris.

I guess the parents did not think this thing all the way through or maybe they just would not care if indeed they are to be prosecuted & CPS finds enough evidence to place the kids in their custody until some sort of arrangement for visitation & reconciliation could be made.

I wonder if they thought about how much the kids would miss them if they are taken away? Just something to think about & I hope we don't see anything like this again.

I think a lot of people had them pegged from the beginning. I definitely knew something was up. It's just amazing how stupid they were about the whole thing. The sad part is that it wouldn't surprise me if after all of their punishment that they do actually get some kind of T.v. or book deal.
