Wrong EQ - What would you do?

I just had an ADC EQ sent to me that I paid for on Ebay. It was titled as a Soundshaper 2 Mk3. I opened the package examined it and realized it was a MK2.

This is the same EQ that was pictured in the auction but I had no idea it was a MK2 and not a Mk3. I was going off the title and text description, which is stated as a MK3.

I only paid $10 (ok cosmetic condition with missing button) and $20 shipping.

What would be the reasonable thing to do here. I am not looking for a fight or anything (it is only $30), but I thought I was going to get a Mk3. :sigh:

If it does what you want it to, then at the $10 price its probably not worth returning. I don't know how big a difference there is between the two models.

At least you got something. I purchased a McIntosh MQ-102 for my XR-14 Speakers. After three weeks of waiting it appears to be MIA, which is a major disappointment.

It does do what I need it to do and the $30 price is nothing to create a big stink over.

I think negative feedback will only create trouble for myself.

I might just bight the bullet here. The EQ is fine, I am just a little disappointed.

Did you ask the seller to clarify what you were bidding on?

If it is what was pictured why would you not assume what you saw in the photo's was what you were bidding on?

If you didn't know the different then very possibly the seller was no better informed then you were.

Always ask if there is doubt. Always know what you are bidding on. If you could not ID the difference between the two models visually maybe the seller couldn't either.

Is the Mk No clearly written on the item? If it is, then the seller is being less than honest. You could give a positive feedback for successful delivery, but include a criticism about his careless description of the item and that such carelessness can easily be interpreted as dishonesty.

The seller needs to know that you are a little peeved, even though you accept the item as it is and appreciate receiving it in the condition that was advertised.

If I am not mistaken the MK III has red LEDs on the sliders where the MK II does not. I think. :scratch2:

I was not sure what the difference was between the two and it is not marked on the front whether it is a 2 or 3. You have to look on the back.

No red flags were going up on this one when I was looking at it, therefore I did not ask any questions.

I'd let the seller know, maybe he will offer to kick back some of your outlay, tell him you wouldn't have bid had you known it wasn't a Mk3.

Beyond that, I'd leave him good feedback, hope he leaves you good feedback, and move on.

If it was a 300.00 item I'd likely be less forgiving!
