WTD opinions: Best cartridge (under $100) for Dual 1019

 I picked up a Dual 1019 TT this week.

It came with this cartridge ---> ADC SER-III
Seller said the stylus is damaged.
I don't mind getting a new cartridge (for less than $100)

Can you recommend a suitable one for this TT?

TIA :thmbsp:

Beautiful dog in your avatar!
My recommendation is a Stanton 500E MKII @ $34.95........... High output, rugged, and sounds damned good. A true classic.
Here's where I got it.

Edit: If the 1019 arm can handle it, the Shure M97xe is an incredible value at around $65 from Amazon.

The Shure is good-what about the Audio Technica AT440MLa? Some of the Ortofons would probably work well-they were original eqipment on some Duals.

I personally think that the 97 sounds bad, and the 440 is quite good, but an aquired taste. They both appear too delicate for this arm.
Joe is right on the money with his suggestion. Furthermore,
if you can secure an old Stanton 681EEE, and if JICO makes a stylus for it, the combination would sing.
Since Stanton was sold, quality has suffered greatly.

Need more info - are you playing existing records that were/are well cared for, or thrift store vinyl in unk condition? Different styli for differnt uses. Dual has light arm. Will handle fairly compliant cart. For inexpensive do-all cartridge - try the AT95e for about $50 plus shipping. Good all around work horse with .2x.7 elliptical diamond and very decent sound (best buy in that price range).

My record collection is mostly bought as new from places like Tower Records over the years. Only recently I started going to GW, SA etc. to cherry pick good buys - some of which are uk condition.
Am spinning now with my old but low mileage Shure M95ED. And it sounds decent - without actually tweaking the TT controls.
