X-101-C Volume / Power Switch Issue

My newly acquired X-101-C is performing well expect that I'm unable to power off the amp with the Volume / Power Knob. The 'Volume / Power' knob will control the volume correctly, but turning the knob to the 'AC OFF' position fails to disable power to the amp. Any guidance on troubleshooting this issue would be greatly appreciated. Below are a few pictures of the volume / power switch:

The switch section is a weak point in Fishers across the board. You'll either have to rebuild it, get it rebuilt, or purchase one at auction. Some folk splice in a toggle and mount it on the chassis. Many people settle on plugging into a power strip and turning it on/off using the switch from the strip. It all comes down to a matter of preference with cost, convenience as factors.

Contact Mark Oppat at Old radio parts, he rebuilds these all the time.

I put in a new Alps blue pot and put a switch in the back.

The switch usually fails in the open mode, failing to close (turn on). Don't discount the fact that the switch in fact failed that way, and someone has already effectively shorted the switch terminals together either at the switch itself (underneath the cover), or back where the leads connect to the line cord and power transformer.

Agree, Delete McAfee's. Resource HAWG, along with it being badly written. Worse than Norton's and I won't use there software either.

Bit late to join in. But, if anybody else is interested. Switched on my X-101-C two days ago. No Power/No Light!
Suspected it was the Ac Power/Volume switch. And, shure enough..... T'was. Just put in a jumper wire between the AC in cable
and the connection to the Power Transformer. Thus bypassing the switch. Only 1/2 inch of wire to solder between the gap.
Bringing it up on a variac until I get an external switch as a replacement. No sign of any replacement/Nos switches anywhere. Also will install a CL-80 thermister to protect from any
more problems. I suspect if I had done this sooner the problem would not have arisen.

Try Mark Oppat. No affiliation, just a satisfied customer. He helped me out with the volume/switch for my Fisher KX-200. An entirely new control.

You can use one of those wired remote Xmas tree light switches between the variac and the cord. Rated for IIRC 10-15W.

I bought them(PRO-4aa for XMAS 2017 after the wife passed. 2nd set of pro 4's. 1st pair(Pro-4a) is 51 years old I bought new with Birthday money at Travis AFB PX IN 1969. . Grandson loved them connected to an 800c. That's him in the pic...

I must have read a review about them. It's funny how you can remember things. I can't remember what I was doing
yesterday. But, I can remember all of my car registration numbers starting with the first and I can remember all
my telephone nos and post codes.

My eldest grandson is 13, I think, so there you are; Can't remember everything.
He doesn't seem particularly interested in music. I think he's too worried about his spots and finds The Shopping
Classes (Girls) difficult to understand. Hopefully he'll come round eventually.

Your grandson is indeed fortunate to be able to listen to music properly.
I keep tweaking my systems, like you do, and usually I regret it and wish I'd left it as it is.
My acquired Fisher X-101-C, beginning of the year, on examining it the insides are very clean.
All the components seem to be original. So, I have decided to leave it alone. It doesn't get hot at all which is probably a good sign. Sounds very sweet. Just the switch to sort out.
