I used Gorilla Glue on my SX-737 when I clumsily snapped mine. It actually worked fine--lots of light transmission, looks good.
But there is possibly another solution available: Pioneer X3X Series AM/FM Dial Indicator & Light Box – Direct Replaceme. You might want to contact him and make sure that would work for your 535.

I'm betting that will work--it's cyanoacrylate, should be transparent enough to transmit light with little reduction.
Sounds like you are happy with the amount of light transferred using the Gorilla glue ?
I talked to Mike at ATO , he said he's had someone use it on a 535 , the photos look identical to mine , it's $35 for his kit , doesn't sell the pointer separate, he tells me that if you glue it light doesn't transfer well, not so sure about that , I don't need the light and other stuff in the kit , just the pointer.
I already bought a complete LED lighting kit from Joe's Quality Wholesale Lamps that paintedtoad recommended so I'm going to give the $4.99 loctite a try.

i used plain ole superglue on my sx1010 but i glued it back together ever so slightly crooked. it drove me nuts too so be careful.
eventually i was whining about it in a thread on here and another member had one and sold it to me.

There's not too much to work with thats for sure , I was trying to be so careful, you don't get a second chance with it thats for sure.

It seems fine to me. I mean, I'm sure it isn't quite as bright as an unbroken dial pointer would be. But it's entirely satisfactory as far as I'm concerned. And it *is* the cheapest solution! (I happened to have a tube already.) I did manage to get my pointer aligned pretty well at the break because Gorilla Glue probably sets a good bit slower than standard superglue. It was runnier than I anticipated--I did get a bit down the side of the pointer I wasn't able to get off completely. But it's really not noticeable much at all, and I'm not anal about how pristine the pointer is.
I think your best bet is gonna be that link I posted above to ATO Audio's replacement pointers. They'll also probably be the cheapest. He makes good stuff--I just received replacement dial lamp holders for my SX-3700 and function & speaker indicator lamp housings for an SX-950 and they are pretty darn solid.
Got it glued , F*^%ing snapped it off again when I was stringing the dial cord #@%^&**) , it came out good just not real bright. Re-glued it , I used the Loctite stuff I posted above. I think it has more to do with the refraction's in the break than the glue , seeing the light blob at the top , if it were crystal clear I doubt it would look like that.
I like the color of the dial face with the warm white LED's . Gotta finish putting it back together and a little work left on the case , adjusted DC offset ,
sounds good and everything works so I'm not sure if I'll get a kit for it or not , all depends on the other 535 I picked up , it has at least one issue but it's cosmetically in great shape.
I'll open another thread for that one.
