Xmass treasure hunting

Hello all greetings from Peru. I want to get an old stereo for my family for xmass, not too much selection here. Ive found this but the owner doesnt know the model and its a long way away. Its all Emerson, thats all I know, can anyone help identify the amp especially, or if someone has any knowledge on similar Emerson equipment, I havent been able to find much info.

Emerson produced mostly cheap throw-away audio, but they once made some fairly decent models, and that looks like one of the latter - that is, the better. Might be okay, but hopefully you can locate something to beat it. Someone more familiar with that series may come along and be more optimistic about it.

By the styling, I'm guessing it dates from the mid to late 1970s, so you'd be looking for a logo like this (came in several different colors), either with or without the treble clef inside the square:

I don't see anything on that equipment that looks anything like that, although I could be wrong. The turntable looks like a BSR in a different manufacturer's base; it's probably serviceable but nothing great. Can't tell anything about the rest.

thank you all really helpful. the record player and amp both have a different emerson logo. vertical treble clef and sanserif all caps emerson.

record player has the same logo and says 2700, neither have model numbers on the back.

It belonged to an old guy who recently passed away and there is an AIWA tape deck from 1971 so makes sense that its all 70s. In the end I will have a listen to it and maybe can be a stopgap until I save for something nicer. Interesting to read about the company, looks like they changed their business model often, manufacturing and then branding stuff manufactured from asia. Could well be that this was 'branded' here as well, interestingly the only other picture ive found of that amp is from here as well. Absolutely everything got pirated here. In the 90s only 2% of music sold in Lima was original! Now lots of people here use spotify so ironically probably less than 2 percent going to the musicians, but thats another thread entirely haha. Interesting. So, older than I thought. But also doesn't look like very good quality, to be honest. One indicator is the combination power switch/volume knob. Common on car radios of the day, much less common on quality audio equipment. Yes, the turntable is BSR, with the Emerson logo stuck on. Back in the 1970s you'd find that turntable, or a similar one, on just about every cheap compact and console stereo sold in the US. BSR must have sold millions of them. Typically they'd have a ceramic cartridge with a tracking force of about 5-6g. Not absolutely awful, but not great, either, considering that a half-decent magnetic cartridge will track at 1.25-1.5g without trouble, and will cause much less wear on your valuable records.

About the only thing interesting about the receiver is that it appears to have three FM presets (those knobs/indicators in the lower right), which was pretty rare with analog tuners.

It sounds like you're going to buy it so just enjoy it and upgrade later on if you feel the need. A lot of us here would like to have something better than what we have now but sometimes money or other things get in the way. Sometimes we're just looking for the right deal.

Sony built some half way decent all in one units that would be better than the Emerson the poster is looking at. Some of earlier ones even had the same fluted knobs that the receivers used.
